Valentin Shelokhaev

Chief Research Associate of Russian History Institute (Russian Sciences Academy).

Born December 18, 1941 in Kuznetsk (Penza region).
1965 — graduated from Mordovia State University. Doctor of History (1985); Full Member of Russian Natural Sciences Academy (RAEN); Professor. Prominent specialist in the political history of Russia, Russian liberalism. Took part in publishing the records of Russian political parties of the early XX century, encyclopedic reference books on the history of Russian political thought and the history of the Russian emigration; wrote several works on liberal parties in Russia.
Works as a Chief Research Associate in the Russian History Institute of Russian Sciences Academy, Chief Specialist in the Center for the Founding and Development of the Program for Publication of the Federal National Authorities’ Records at the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History (RGASPI). Director of the Russian Social Thought Istitute. President of the "Russian Political Encyclopaedia" Association.
Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in science and technology (2002; Russian Federation Presidential Decree No. 1481 of December 13, 2003) for his work “Russian Political Parties of the Late XIX Century and the First Third of the XX Century: The Documentary Legacy” (24 issues, 28 volumes). Author of more than 600 scientific works.
